The paragaraph I am going to quote below is from a document dated 1891. Very 
briefly it refers to a Goan resistance in Zanzibar in 1891. I'm familiar with 
the republican movement in Portugal. I'm not at all sure Goans in Zanzibar were 
influenced by it. I would like to hear your brief comments on republicanism in 
Portugal (and if possible its over-reach into Goa in the 1800s.)
"And if, like me, Your Excellency does not listen to them and the Kingdoes not 
welcome them, I will also ask permission to tell Your Excellency thatthey will 
naturally turnto the republicans, so that they have someone at the rallies to 
applaudthem when they speak against the vice-consul, against the consul 
general,against the Minister and against the King."
