Greetings from Sehgal Foundation <http://www.smsfoundation.org/>
I hope this email finds you well. 3ie <http://www.3ieimpact.org/> and Sehgal Foundation are organising a one-day event which will act as a platform for policymakers, including government representatives, researchers and students to discuss transparency, open data, ethical values and issues related to development research. This dialogue will help identify underlying deterrents to data transparency and consequential access thus calling upon researchers and users of data in development to propose solutions to promote ethical data sharing and use. This event will be open for all On behalf of Sehgal Foundation, I would like to invite you to be part of the dialogue on *4 December at India Habitat Centre* titled ‘Transparency, Openness and Ethics in Development research’. <http://www.3ieimpact.org/en/events/external-events/dialogue-transparency-open-access-and-ethics-development-researc/> The first session will debate the concept of "Openness" and the need for standards in research. Even if data is openly available, it is often not found in a form that is accessible and useful. This is a particular challenge in low and middle-income countries where data could be used for carrying out research that would generate useful evidence for decision-making. Transparent and open practices include research preregistration, development of pre-analysis plans, creation of replication files, reporting of complete information, complete citations and publishing open research among others. In the second session, session, panellists will discuss how we could be advocating for policymakers, researchers, and journals to adopt standards/best practices that promote research transparency and openness. The final session will discuss the numerous ethical considerations in research and how promoting ethics in research is the collective responsibility of the research community including research institutes, scientific organisations, universities and data collection agencies For detail agenda and registration, please find below the weblink https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-dialogue-on-transparency-open-access-and-ethics-in-development-research-tickets-51697972026?ref=ebtnebregn Regards, Aparna Aparna Radhakrishnan, PhD (Agril.
