[With apologies for cross-posting]

Hi All,

There are just a few days left to register for this interactive SSP
pre-conference seminar on Wednesday, May 29: 'Open-source Bazaar: Owned by
the community, ensuring independent, open infrastructure in the age of
acquisitions'.

With critical infrastructure such as hosting platforms and manuscript
submission systems being acquired by large commercial publishers, smaller
and society publishers wonder what other curve balls the future will bring.
For example, will end-to-end workflow solutions lock them in? Or will such
monopolies lock them out from participation? Community-owned infrastructure
can be an answer. This informational and interactive session seeks to bring
community-owned and governed initiatives together with those exploring
future alternatives to infrastructure consolidation.

The panel will be moderated by Kristen Ratan from the Collaborative
Knowledge Foundation (Coko) and Dan Whaley from Hypothesis, with a line-up
of speakers from eLife, Ubiquity, Coko, Hindawi and Michigan Publishing.

We hope you can join us then! If you have any questions ahead of time,
please don't hesitate.

Best wishes,

Emily
