Dears,

Goa was rarely ..or never .... self-ruled. Even the Kadamba's had their capital
in Banvasi, between Sirsi and Yellapur/Soundatti.

The Bhojas, Shilharas, Chalukyas, Marathas, Wodiyars, Sondekars and Bijapuri
Sultans were not from what we know today as Goa.

On 10 March, 1510 A.D. "Admiral" Timmaji or Timoji first brought Admiral Afonso
de Albuquerque to the port that later was called the Cidade de Goa and is now
referred to as Old Goa or Velha Goa. We were a foreign rule for about three
months ...till the forces of the Sultan drove them into the Mandovi ...like the
floating casinos of today. It was only on 25 November,1510 that the forces of
the colonialists and the quislings were able to defeat the local forces and
physically and politically colonize Goa almost permanently.

What will our response be to the present attempt to colonize Goa
economically??  Bt brinjal, casinos, holiday homes, SEZs are but colonization
in a different form.

Mog asundi
