strongly advocated that more Goa footballers should be given representation

Federation for India's dismal performance in the Asian zone qualifier

MAMLATDARS TO MONITOR ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTIONS: Thanks to the High Court, new
illegal constructions along the coastal areas will now be monitored by the

SIMPLE MAN, ACHARYA: Former Minister Jagdish Acharya does not have that
street-smart look. A simple man who seems to have followed a well-beaten
trail as a family man, small trader and civil contractor, his life has been
rather sedate. Unlike the BJP nominee Isidore Fernandes, whom he faced twice
in the Assembly polls, there have been no rough patches in his life. The
no-nonsense type but mild-mannered politician describes his entry into
politics as a miracle. (Vithaldas Hegde in GT)

IS GOA REALLY MODERN? "It is still a mystery as to how we can call Goa
modern, literate State, capable of hosting international events when there
are villages which do not have drinking water for days on end. How can we
welcome foreign cruise ships with all their fairytale lights when there are
hamlets in interior Goa which do not get proper electricity supply. And, of
yes, how can we host motor cross rallies in Goa when for some a tarred road
is unthinkable. Yes, that is Goa for some, unfortunately in the second
millennium." (Edit in Herald)

. DON'T KNOW TO WRITE! Leave alone bringing down the spiraling crime graph
and atrocities on women, the Goa Police seem unable to do even simple things

the level of their alertness and gave them a different number and they
blindly wrote it down in the challan. (GT)
