Sattari burning: Angry villagers kill youth, injure policemen despite firing in air Dec 28 – Irate crowd went berserk today at Guleli, Sattari killing one and seriously injuring over 30 policemen including senior police offers. The people were expressing their anger over the pollution created by number of stone crushers operating in their village by Krishnarao Rane. Today villagers ran out of patience and attacked Krishnarao Rane’s son Prithviraj Rane (35) with rods and stones killing him on the spot. However, when the police team led by SP D K Sawant went to the scene to arrest the culprits, the mob attacked them with stones forcing the police to fire in the air. Thirty police constables including one lady police constable, SP Sawant, DySP Tari, PI Monsarrate were badly injured in the stone pelting. All were admitted in GMC. Some locals also injured in the incident.
