[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*}[*]{*} RECENT ITEMS OF PARTICULAR INTEREST ON GOANET. BY CORNEL DACOSTA (Cornel DaCosta's review of Goanet on http://www.goanvoice-org.uk) Do read Basilio Magno's fascinating account of UK's Konkani Tiatr in Germany. The tiatr SUKH written by Luis D'Souza was directed by Bella Fernandes, the first Goan woman to direct a Konkani tiatr in London and where Konkani plays are produced under the auspices of the Goan Cultural Society, presided by Gregg Carvalho. For a further account of Tiatro and Tiatrists, please also note A. Veronica Fernandes' detailed historical account on Goanet. Interesting historical Goan experiences of events during World War 2 have been featured recently on Goanet. They indicate how sometimes a simple inquiry can lead to many fascinating details and stories set in many faraway places. Once again Goan Voice (UK) readers are encouraged to make their contributions in this and other fields on Goanet. Are dynastic political developments in democracies like India and the USA advantageous towards promoting political stability? An absorbing discussion on this, and the possibility of dynastic developments in Goa, have provided serious as well as entertaining commentary recently. Goanet Cybermatrimonials are a regular feature on Goanet. However, some recent feedback has expressed a little scepticism about whether the adverts are real or sometimes imaginary because of some non response to inquiries. Would GV (UK) readers think it is possible that the adverts have been outstandingly successful and individuals have been spoken for very quickly after the adverts? If so, please let Goanet know. But even if this were so, we surely would agree that, all replies to inquiries would be appreciated and would help further to support this very worthwhile volunteer venture on Goanet. Finally, with reference to Claude Alvares we are told of his preface to a book in 2000 -- Dharampal: Indian Science and Technology in the 18th Century. In many ways, the material from the book seems really original in thought. Among many things, it tells us about " how Britain went pulverising the Indian economy" because in many respects it was so far ahead of Britain at the time and also how and why the decision was taken by Britain not to people India with British and European settlers compared to other parts of the British Empire. This is indeed a long and weight article about the book, full of wonderful nuggets of information well worth reading for so many wonderful insights.
