Chandrakant Keni memorial My Goa Quiz on 18th June The 6th edition of the Chandrakant Keni memorial My Goa Quiz will be held on 18th June – Goa Revolution Day at Institute Menezes Braganza’s Conference Hall, Panaji. The Quiz is held every year since 2009, in memory and honour of the late journalist, editor, writer and champion of Konkani language.
The entire content of the Quiz is Goa-centric and over the years, this quizzing event has been much awaited by participants, many of whom are not regular quizzers. “I have been participating in the Quiz since it first started in 2009. It gives me a chance to test my knowledge on the land that I am passionate about,” says Anju Sakhardande, Professor at Dhempe College. “There are quizzes held on various subjects, but this is a rare quiz that has everything to do with Goa and Goans,” is what graphic designer and photographer from Margao, Lynn Barretto Miranda feels. The quiz draws participation from a cross section of people, many of whom are not regulars on the quizzing circuit. Winners of the earlier editions include social worker Leroy Veloso, journalist Frederick Noronha, Paula Mambro and architect couple Prita and Sunil Sardesai. The quiz is open to all participants irrespective of age and there are no registration charges. Conceptualised by Harshvardhan Bhatkuly and Rajiv D’Silva, the quizzing duo that has brought many a laurel to Goa over the years, this edition of the Chandrakant Keni Memorial My Goa Quiz will be hosted by Harshvardhan Bhatkuly. “We are looking at a full-house, celebrating Goa and the knowledge about Goa,” says Bhatkuly. The quiz is played with a two-member team format. After the written preliminary, six teams qualify for the on-stage finals which promise to be a riveting affair. The winners will walk away with a cash prize and a trophy each. There are prizes for the second and third spot, as well. The event will flag off at 3 pm at Panjim’s Institute Menezes Braganza.
