1. An advanced meditation course conducted by the Art Of Living Foundation
Bangalore will be held at the International Centre Dona Paula from the
18th-21st of April. This is a residential course. Food will be provided.
Rates 1500/ per head. Check in 17th night. note: all candidates must have
already completed an Art of Living Basic Course.
2. There will be a live music concert in the Municipal Gardens Panjim on
Friday 18th March, World Heritage Day. ( timing 5 pm -10 pm ). In addition
to the police brass band, there should be some really talented young
musicians performing. All participants are requested to bring a candle.

Open letter to the Prime Minister
Shri A.B. Vajpayee,
Prime Minister of India,
South Block,
New Delhi 110 001.
Sub.: Unacceptable Continuing Violence in Gujarat
We, members of the Forum for Communal Harmony located in Goa, write to
express our deep concern and anxiety over the horrifying events that have
unfolded over the last month in the state of Gujarat and which have
compelled every Indian to hold his or her head in shame.
We are now convinced that the State Government led by Shri Narendar Modi, by
its various acts of omission and commission, has actually allowed and
encouraged anti-social and communal elements to go on a rampage against
people and property in the state. Women and unborn children have not been
spared. The State of Gujarat is thus guilty of complicity in the prolonged
violence that has brought public life, and the economy to a standstill.
Whenever such unfortunate incidents occur, we expect our leaders to act
swiftly and firmly, without any bias and discrimination, while upholding the
values of liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in our Constitution. If
they are unable to do this, they should go or be asked to go.
The cancer of communalism is spreading all over the country. The state of
Goa too, once known for its exemplary values of communal harmony, is
demonstrating that it is no longer immune to the disease. Several incidents
have already been noted in various parts of the state, instigated by
communal elements.
If this communal cancer is not stopped now by firm directions from the
Central Government, it will grow and reach a point of no return, threatening
the very existence of the country and its future.
Under the Constitution of India, Sir, you are not only the custodian of 'raj
dharma', but even more importantly, of 'manav dharma'. We urge you therefore
to act decisively and thereby restore the confidence of the people of
Gujarat and the people of the rest of India in your administration.
We demand
a.. That you take urgent steps to bring the situation in Gujarat under
control in the least possible time frame.
a.. That the Chief Minister Mr Narendra Modi be dismissed, and
President's Rule be enforced.
a.. That a full fledged enquiry be directed to be conducted by a sitting
judge of the Supreme Court, to identify those responsible for the Godhra and
post-Godhra violence and charge them with crimes against humanity.
a.. That relief and rehabilitation measures in Gujarat be strengthened
without discrimination.
a.. That you prevail upon the Goa Government to constitute a Goa State
Human Rights Commission and a Goa State Minorities Commission.

Panaji, April 12
With an eye on the coming elections to the state Assembly, Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday announced a development package for Goa
including linking the state with the proposed North-South corridor.
Addressing a public meeting on the sidelines of the BJP National Executive
meeting here, Vajpayee said work has already commenced on the Rs 60,000
crore National Highway project linking north to the south and east with the
west.
"Goa would be linked to the North-South corridor and the National Highway
number 17 passing through Goa would be converted into a four-lane highway,"
the Prime Minister announced to loud cheers from the crowd.
With a view to attract more tourists to the coastal state, the sewerage
system would be improved and even far-flung roads would be linked by a road
network, he said.
Efforts would also be made to resolve the water shortage and pollution
problem in North Goa, Vajpayee said.
Vajpayee said the Goa Assembly was dissolved as those in power had "no lust
for power". He urged the people of the state to elect a "stable,
corruption-free and progressive" Government and assured them that the
Centre would help the state in generating as much resource as possible.

Dear Cybergoans,
Our peace in socegado Goa has been interrupted today and for another
2 days by a bunch of political goons who have chosen to have their
national party conference in Panjim. What a wise choice. All these
freeloaders are staying in the 5 star Marriot and our daily rags, NT,
H and GT have reported that the PMs choice of entr=E9e and dessert is
rava fried jumbo prawns (Rs. 600/kg) and Malcurado mangoes ( also Rs.
600/doz). I only hope that the Marriot will send the bill to Delhi
and not wait for the poor Govt. of Goa to foot the bill.
Coming now to more serious matters, there is this Chief Monster from
that lovely prohibitionist Gandhian state, north of us, who has the
audacity to visit our beautiful clean land, with blood stains all
over his clothes and hands. So what does he do? While the whole
country is waiting with bated breath for him to be fired, he has this
private tete a tete with the lame duck PM (no pun intended), and the
mosque demolition specialist, aka HM. And they decide that the best
thing is for the CM to put in his papers, so that they can make a
big show of refusing to accept them! QED.
All I ask is that they have this charade in some other state, the
next time, so that we can continue our socegado existence in peace.
