HELP MANDO FESTIVALS � II.
Since I am raising my voice on this subject I should not be made
responsible, however, still something is required from my side I will come
forward provided I am in position to do same. I do not want to be the
leader of this fund nor to be the custodian of this fund. Let everyone or
every organisation that is coming forward to raise funds for this cause take
the responsibility of their funds. And if any more discussion is required
it should be done only in the open forum as I will not discuss anything
privately. I want everyone to be aware of what is going on. There is no
secrecy in this. Let community be witness to our discussion for the good
cause.
Meantime, in Kuwait there are so many organizations, they have funds at
their disposal. Cannot they do something on their own behalf? Goan Welfare
Society is the biggest fund holder of Goan community in their kitty, to my
information they have around 25 lakhs of rupees. This is the money of
public collected by organising public functions in the name of Goa and
Goans. Why not a part of this fund should go for the good of Goan cause?
If they have Goan wish I am sure they alone can allocate the entire amount.
If they do so then they will not be doing any favour on me but they will do
their Goan duty towards their own Goa, their own language and their own
culture. If Goans are really Goans in these parts of the World then they
will come forward to help financially organising Mando Festivals in Goa.
Otherwise naming of their organizations with prefix and suffix as Goa and
Goan will be betrayal of Goa and such traitors we will not want amongst us
to promote Goa of course with fake Goan identity. I expect Goans to speak
out now and that too loudly.
Many of our Goan associations are having huge funds, these funds have been
collected in the name of Goa and Goans. The funds of some of these
associations are held in the account of one person or two or three. Here
lies the risk of these funds. If all the members of these associations are
together at one place then well and good but if some or more members are
left for Goa for good then they will forget to take interest in the funds
collected by them and deposited in the name of only one � two or three
persons. These persons having account in their name in such cases can
misuse these funds. Take for example the cases of our Goan Clubs (Kudd) in
Bombay. Because of lethargic attitude of some members those who were having
the custody of the Kudd and money turned mad and in that madness they not
only misused the Kudd funds but some of them even sold the Kudd without
letting known this to other members. In Kuwait there was one old Goan
association known as Kuwait Goans, so also another association �Goan Arts
Circle�. Kuwait Goan Association was having monopoly over all Goan
functions for about 20 years and during this long period they have
accumulated lot of funds. This association was active till the invasion of
Kuwait but after the liberation of Kuwait there is no news of this
association nor the amount it had in its kitty. Where that fund has gone
finally? Who is holding the custody of this fund? Once I even told one or
two members of this association to make use of their funds for the good
cause of Goa and community but nobody listened and because of this up to now
nobody knows whereabout of their funds. In view of this, all Goan
associations having their funds should think twice so that their funds are
not gone into the wrong hands or otherwise let it be utilized for good cause
now only before it is too late.
