feel that way cause YOU and goacom don't give others a chance.
Your capturing of Goanet/Goanews was at your advantage and I was the guy who was
stupid enough to help you guys not knowing your intentions.

Various doubts have often been raised on these
Discussion Groups whether Frederick Noronha is truly a Goan.
Many of the traits he displays are not typically
Goan - pure vegitarianism, pure logic... etc.
I have constantly defended Fred and argued that he
is indeed very much a Goan.
Below is my most recent argument:
Typical Goan characteristic:
2 Goans = 1 Club
3 Goans = 2 Clubs
Now Fred has been constantly, in print publications and on the Net, praising the
extensive collection of Goa related links on the http://www.goa-world.net website.
After all this he decides to have a Goa
related Links page of his own instead of joining
hands with goa-world.net and strengthening what already exists.
A truly Goan characteristic. Do not cooperate with
fellow Goans. Compete with them!
Conclusion: Fred is indeed Goan.

Goa's versatile konkani writer Bonaventure D'Pietro from Anjuna has yet
released another issue of ARSO (Mirror) this month. (Issue No. VI - Year
VI.-2002)
This issue is dedicated to Rev. Fr. Lino Florindo, SFX, the outgoing parish
priest of St. Michael's Church, Anjuna.
It has a content of interesting articles on Late Chris Perry, Fr. Conceicao
D'Silva, Souza Boy- the tiarist, and other stories by renown writers like
late Reginald Fernandes, Brazinho Soares, F.De Cruz, Prof. Daniel F. D'Souza
and others besides Mr. D'Pietro.
"Udent Afrikent Goenkaranchem Jivit" by late Pascoal de Mello, M.B.E., makes
an interesting reading. "Ami Te Kharvi" by Alex Silveira a talented youth
of Calangute pens his true life experience.
Wrapped in a colorful cover, it contains many farewell notes to Fr. Lino
and a message by Ms.Teresa Albuquerque. It is priced at worthy Rs. 12/- only
for an evening of knowledge.

Sidelights of yesterdays meeting in Panjim

* The meeting, which was scheduled to begin at 4.30 p.m, actually started at
5.45 p.m with the Union Minister of State for Shipping, Mr Shripad Naik,
welcoming the gathering.
* The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar wearing olive-green shirt was seen
giving instructions till the last minute near the stage.
* The BJP National Executive Council meeting ended around 6 p.m and the
members started arriving at the venue of the meeting soon after that. Former
chief ministers of Gujarat, Mr Keshubhai Patel, was among the first NEC
members to reach the venue.
* The BJP national president, Mr Jana Krishnamurthy, accompanied by Mr
Parrikar and BJP general secretary, Mr Sunil Shastri, walked through the
barricade and made a statement over Gujarat crisis to the media personnel.
* The Prime Minister, Mr A B Vajpayee, arrived at the venue at 6.35 p.m.
* All ministers attended the public meeting and were seated at the enclosure
reserved for the NEC members.
* The media personnel rushed to flash the news of Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr
Narendra Modi, offering to resign.
* The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar's announcement of facing the
election to seek full mandate were applauded by the gathering.
* The devotional songs in Hindi and Marathi were played at the venue.
However, national anthem recorded in one of the cassette was played
mistakenly.
* Mr Parrikar mentioned the name of 4 Congress MLAs in his speech and urged
the party workers to ensure their defeat to cleanse the Goan politics of
corruption.
* The Chief Minister garlanded the Prime Minister on behalf of Goans while,
Mr Laxmikant Parsenkar garlanded the BJP president, Mr Jana Krishnamurthy.
* The 'Scribe book' containing the details about the programmes held in Goa
for women empowerment was presented to the Prime Minister.
* The Prime Minister also released a booklet containing the development
activities undertaken by the Parrikar government in Goa during the last 17
months.
* The Union Minister of Information Technology, Mr Pramod Mahajan, started
his speech by saying 'Dev Borem Korum' he also wished happy 'Gudi Padva' to
Goans on the occasion of Hindu New Year tomorrow.
* Though most people waited patiently to hear the Prime Minister, some of
them started leaving the venue even as Mr Mahajan was speaking.
* Konkani lovers expressed strong resentment over the BJP's action of
putting welcome arches in Marathi, as they felt that it was an insult to
Goans.
* Though, Union ministers, Mr L K Advani and Mr Murli Manohar Joshi were
sitting on the dias, they did not address the gathering.
* The public meeting was curtailed in view of the taking up the Gujarat
issue for discussion at the NEC meeting.

MODI'S RESIGNATION REJECTED: The national executive of Bharatiya Janata
Party in an emergency meeting on Friday night in Panjim rejected Gujarat
Chief Minister Narendra Modi's offer to resign for the worst carnage seen
there for decades but asked him to seek dissolution of the legislative
assembly and seek a fresh mandate. The political fallout of the Gujarat
violence took centre stage as predicted at the inaugural session of the
three-day national executive meeting of the ruling BJP yesterday. (H)
ELECTORAL SETBACKS TEMPORARY: Dismissing the severe electoral setbacks
suffered by the BJP in the four North India states as a "temporary
phenomenon", the BJP national president, Mr Jana Krishnamurthy, yesterday

DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE FOR GOA: Delivering his address at the public meeting
at Campal yesterday, Prime Minister AB Vapayee stated that the Central
Government would extend all possible assistance to Goa in terms of
developmental schemes, specially connecting it with other states through

ROLL BACK OF BUDGET PROPOSALS LIKELY: BJP yesterday gave enough hints of a
possibility of a roll back of some of the proposals in the Finance Minister

VAJPYAEE LAMBASTS FORCES BEHIND GODHRA MASSACRE: PM Vajpayee said the
communal flare-up at Godhra could have been averted if the innocent people
on the Sabarmati express train were not killed and warned that Islamic

TIRADE AGAINST MUSLIMS: It will go down in history, that it was on an
amavasya night that Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee launched an

ARMY'S CONCERN OVER HUTMENTS: Army officers at Rawanfond (In Margao) fear
possible hindrance to their training activities to fresh recruits by the

ENROLLMENT FOR KONKANI MEET: The enrollment of delegates for the 23rd All
India Konkani Parishad to be held at Mangalore on April 20 and 21, has
started at the Konkani Bhasha Mandal's Margao and Panaji offices, according
to a press note issued by the Parishad's general secretary, Mr Raju Nayak.

SC REJECTS NCERT'S PLEA: Reiterating its earlier orders putting an interim
ban on alleged attempts to saffronise the secondary education, the Supreme
Court yesterday dismissed an application by the National Council for
Educational Research and Training, and also rejected the suggestion of
Solicitor General that some of the books could be released if an
independent persons like Justice PB Sawant cleared them. (PTI report on

MEDICAL REPS' STRIKE ON 16 APR: The Federation of Medical Representative
Association of India will hold a month-long relay strike of the field
workers in pursuance of 27 common charter of demands. In Goa, the field

'KIT KAT' BREAK: Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries,
Prof Chamanlal Gupta yesterday afternoon took a break from official party

tendered his resignation as the chairman of the Goa Construction Housing
