Eddie, I will not disagree with you as long as you prove it through an
accredited Konkani dictionary that those words are Konkani words.

The portuguese words you mentioned (caril for curry, cha for tea, manga for
mango, etc) are indeed included in any Portuguese dictionary.

If you can find "Mankurad", "sucegad", "vistid", "jurament", etc in an
accredited Konkani dictionary, I will stand corrected.

Best regards,
paulo.

Subject: [Goanet] Goa-Portugal.

We are a Swedish couple who have settled in Goa and live in this beautiful
state since the last 5 years. Our old Portugese house is in a quiet waddo
in Parra, close to Mapusa. We have brought it back from a neglected state
to its former glory and love it as much as the susegad life.

We just joined GoaNet a couple of weeks back and think it's an excellent
way of exchanging information about everything Goan.

This year in September we are going to Portugal with the intentions of
buying a house. We hope to divide our time between Goa and Portugal
(instead of Sweden where the climate now has become too cold for us and the
cost of living too high in so many ways).

Is there anyone who can give us useful advice on this?

Any special region of interest to look for in Portugal? Contact persons?
Things to avoid?

Best regards,

Jan & Katarina Lang.

DR. LEO REBELLO OF BOMBAY TO CONTEST
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN INDIA
Please read on and support

Whereas, Dr. Karan Singh and Mr. V.P.Singh (the two other contenders) have
passed their prime, Dr. Leo Rebello - who turned 52 on April 11, if elected will
be the youngest President of India. He represents three minorities : Christians
(by birth), Parsis (by marriage) and Humanitarians (by choice).

Dr. Leo Rebello is highly qualified, well-traveled in some 51 countries, written
25 books, has 30 years of solid all round social work experience. He has met
several world leaders and his contribution to Humanism in Health is widely
known. He has once again been nominated for a Nobel and recipient of many
international awards.

Dr. Leo Rebello has clean habits, is a vegetarian and teetotaler and linguist,
who speaks fluent Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati and Konkani.

Dr. Leo Rebello is a statesman and not a politician and his heart beats for
India. He is not self-serving and he will not compromise. All over the world
there are young leaders. Only in India old men are elected even though the
