Dear cybergoans,
When I read the obvious bias in this and earlier posts, I feel a
sense of sadness, but anger as well. I belong to a generation whose
dreams lie shattered over a period of 50 years after independence. In
the 1950s we had such great hopes that India would take up its
rightful place among the comity of nations. Unfortunately, the first
40 years of Nehruvian socialism, coupled with "nonallignment" ensured
that our great country remained poor, and effectively divorced from
Western technology.
In the past 10 years the virulent and ugly face of Hindu
fundamentalism has raised its head, and created great unease among
the minorities. This is extremely dangerous because the strength of
our minorities is huge =96 110 mil. Muslims and 20 mil. Christians.
As I mentioned earlier, my sense of outrage is driven by the fact
that we have made great sacrifices for the country. So when some
armchair politician makes irresponsible statements, or some member of
goanet posts half baked half truths, it is time to rest your case, go
to Benaulim beach , walk on the seashore, and watch the setting sun.
Peace be with you.
Regards=97Gilbert.
