LUIZINHO FALEIRO IN QATAR. Help Protect Goan Culture.
According to the latest information, Luizinho along with Joaquim Alemao will be in Qatar to attend the G.O.A. functions. I would kindly request any of the Goan members attending these functions to ask Luizinho Faleiro the following questions: 1. As a leader of opposition party in the Leg. Assembly and as a senior member of Congress having good record as far as defection is concerned, why his party gave tickets to all the defectors thereby giving them one more opportunity to defect? 2. What precautionary measures Congress Party has taken to prevent further defections from its members once they are elected? 3. If Congress Party is allowed to form the next ministry, who will be the Chief Minister and other Ministers? What decision Congress has taken in this regards or will they wait for election results thereby giving the elected members to play their tricks? All troubles starat only for the sake of ministerial positions. This has to be decided beforehand only. Furthermore according to reports G.O.A. Qatar last year by organising a function donated one lakh of rupees for the Earthquake victims in Gujarat. Fine, this is a good humanitarian gesture. To my Goans in G.O.A., more than Gurajarat you have responsibility to look after the requirements of your own Goa and Goans. Your name suggest that you are for Goa and Goans. Goan culture is to be protected and in this aspect your assistance is very much required. Mando and Dulpods are part of our culture and keeping them alive is the duty of Goans, real and genuine Goans and not fake Goans. Everyear in Goa Mando Festivals are organised and to organise these festivals the organisers need money. Kuwait Konknni Kendr has already allocated one lakh of rupees for this purpose and Goa lover American settled Agnelo Gomes has done his duty by allocating over 5 lakhs of ruppes. Still more fund is requried. Earlier I have explained and written exhaustively on this subject and I am sure G.O.A. Qatar will be aware of this. In view of this, can I on my individual behalf request G.O.A. to allocate at least Rs. one lakh for this purpose and make the job of organising Mando Festival an easy affair? Can't you allocate this years profit for this purpose? As Goans who are in this part of the world we have more responsibilities towards Goa and protection of its cultural items. Otherwise what is the use of ourselves calling us Goans, having our associations in the name of Goa/Goans and organising our functions in the name of Goa? If we fail in our mission towards supporting genuine Goan causes then we will fail our ownselves. Organising ballroom dances and electing and selecting May Queens is a good function but surely it is not a part of Goan culture.If we are real Goans having love for our Goa and Goan culture then we will do something to protect our cultural items. It is a challenge not only to G.O.A. Qatar but also to all other Goans who are organising their functions in the name of Goa/Goans. A.
