Re: [Goanet] Threats from Gaspar and Ulysses to shut
down goanet

Here comes Batman, let await Robins arrival.
If you see the entire issue of showing
the advertising tariffs has been evaded.

Lets settle Cecil Pinto's matter first.

Below is Herman's response. He charges
$25/- per posting on Goanet.

Now before even producing the tariffs for
advertising Cecil Pinto is charged $50/-
Cecil is ready to pay the money so whats
the big problem. No one wants to collect
the money, are you guys afraid of something ?

So lets see now the money collected from
these advertisements are used for maintaining
goanet on goacom right ? no sorry for promotions
of blah blah blah long story ????

Lets listen to Fred's diplomatic reply.

Where is Herman ? Speak up and finish of
the matter. Take the payment and subscribe
Cecil. Also send me the advertising Tariffs
I need to put a few adverts on Goanet.

Now you know why evil politicians reach at the top
its cause everyone closes their eyes and listens
to a one sided conversation.

Regards
Uly

Mr. Pinto,

I am not going to argue with you. Your US $50 dues to
Goanet and your
membership are not welcome here anymore.

 Dear Friends,

I have been a member of goanet for over 3 years now, and I feel Goanet
is THE BEST mailing list among the Goan mailing groups.

This issue on advertising has been dragging on for days now,
and most of the Netters are fedup of this.

I agree with Eugene, that this issue should be closed once and for all, and
it would be nice to abide by the rules.

It would also be nice if members of other groups do not interfere in
Goanet.

 Cheers!!!!

I have an issue with you. Now that you have
cc'ed an email to me, I think I better
bring it up.

I was among the first five subscribers of goanet
and contributed considerably to its growth when
it was born. But however, I do not ever see
my name in any description of Goanet's birth
while see names of other people. It was not just
me but there were others too whose names I do
not see.

Obviously, you have been trying to get all
credit for Goanet.

Your attitude of charging people for advts.
when they just posted a message is disgusting too.

Sam

Subject: [Goanet] Re: A call for peace

Hi all,

Now that Herman has given the rates and Cecil has
agreed to pay, it would be nice that the goanet admin
team does not accept the payment to show its goodwill.
The spirit of the whole issue is important.
Cecil may want to go the proper route in case he wants
to advertise. I'm not sure if the $50 fee is for
one-time posting or for a certain period. The advert
shouldn't be part of the signature, but rather
separated by a dotted line.
On the other hand, Cecil shouldn' claim any invoice as
it involves administrative work. Less keep the burden
on the admin team less as they are volunteers.
As for the issue of Fred's signature, he has stated
his profession but he hasn't solicited any business.
He hasn't asked netters to write to him if they want
any articles for a price. Please let's not confuse the
issues nor take it Fred because he's part of the admin
team.
Would the admin team be kind enough to re-instate
Cecil? I don't see any point in pursuing this matter
any further.
As for Sonali, it does matter if the person is genuine
though the message this netter posts is more important
than the person. But netters should not take cover in
alias to hit out at anyone or the admin team.
If a netter doesn't have a computer and does his or
her posting through use of another netter's computer
isn't illegal but this practices raises doubts.
Best to avoid it. If this Sonali person has been
around sometime and some of us could vouch for this
person, it would be fine. But somebody who just
appears and starts posting on contentious issues makes
all of vary of this person's genuine interest in
goanet.
We could be going round in circles over this problem
and I would like to suggest a quick end. If the admin
team still has reasons to keep Cecil suspended, please
let us know.
I would also like to suggest that Marlon stop using
terms such as "junta". If he suspects there's a
conspiracy against goanet, it would be wise to be
patient till it becomes very transparent. Friends
grouping togther to support each other is not
uncommon.
In the light what has transpired so far, it would be
good to put it behind and move forward. Whatever
faults goanet has, we need the forum. I don't have
anything against other sites and I don't have any
problems if more mailing lists or discussion groups
pop up.
Sometimes I wish I could go through the TGF postings
to keep my abreast of discussions on this forum. The
TGF has some good pieces by people I wish come back to
goanet. With subscription to some professional
journalism lists, I get lot of emails that take much
of my free time. I'm wavering away from the subject I
started with, so I'll leave this part for discussion
at a later time.
I await a reply from goanet admin team.

Eugene

Marlon's writing in parenthesis [!]

Marlon:
[Hi Sonali,
It is very good to hear from you albeit under your phony alias. Would you
by any chance happen to be related to an Ashok Chodnakar who apparently
sabotaged Gaspar Almedia's computer on a number of ocassions?]

I presume you are referring to this Sonali Prabhudesai who has been doing
asking some uncomfortable questions on GoaNet. I do not know who she is
either but surely her queries should be replied to. Some days back when
Allwyn Sequeira asked some questions you wrote that they were valid and had
to be answered. What's different now? The heat is getting too close to you?

And before you start on that Ashok Chodankar routine again I bid you
caution. Ashok Chodankar from Colvale has been working for Al Kharafi in
Kuwait for many years now. He in fact works in the same office as Gaspar
Almeida. I have met him on at least three occasions and he appears to be a
very decent person. On at least two other occasions he has e-mailed me from
Gaspar's PC (he does not posess his own PC) asking for some messages to be
delivered to his home here. So maybe you better do some cross checking
before you get an innocent man, Ashok Chodankar, involved in your name
calling. Don't drag everyone into the mud.

- -----------

Marlon:
[Anyway, to answer your question: No, goanet is not violating yahoogroups
policies. For one thing, the mailing list is actually hosted on goacom, not
yahoogroups. GOACOM offers this service to goanet for free, with no strings
attached. Secondly as was posted by the goanet-admin team, Goanet/Herman
collects advertizing money on goanet to support non-commerical activities
and promotional activities in Goa. Hence even if Goanet were hosted by
Yahoogroups, it would not be breaking their rules as goanet is a
non-commerical entity. If asked by yahoogroups, I expect Herman to be able
to provide all the necessary documentation/receipts.]

Since I have NEVER questioned GoaNet's authority to charge for
advertisments, I will not comment. All I had asked for was the advertising
RATES which were never forthcoming and still seem very elusive.

- -----------------
Marlon:
[Now rather not surpisingly, Ulysses and Gaspar have in private threats
raised exactly the same issue as you and have threatened to shut down
goanet by bringing this issue up with yahoogroups. You will be happy to
know that goanet will continue to function regardless of what they try and
do.]

I do not believe that Gaspar and Ulysses have ever threatened to 'SHUTDOWN
goanet' but since you say they have done so in 'private' e-mails the onus
is on you to prove your point and reveal those e-mails. You cannot allude
to contents of 'private' e-mails and then refuse to disclose them.

- ------------
Marlon:
[If it is anyone who should be worried about violating the rules of
yahoogroups, it should be them. They have consistently promoted the floral
business of their business partner in Goa on a number of their mailing
lists. Since they and their partner obtain clear material and non-material
gains through this collaboration, the phrase "dont throw stones in glass
houses" comes to mind.]

I highly object to the term 'business partner'. EXPRESSIONS is a
proprietorship concern of my wife Beatrice Pinto. Even I am not a 'business
partner' in EXPRESSIONS. That aside, in the 4 years of having known Gaspar
Almeida and Ulysses Menezes I have NEVER given them a single paisa and nor
have they ever asked, or hinted, at any compensation for their efforts. My
repeated requests to work out some commission agreement has also been
totally ignored.

4 years back when Beatrice first thought of accepting e-mail orders I
drafted a sort of scheme and e-mailed it to all my friends and relatives,
with instructions to pass it on. One of these reached a Gaspar Almeida, an
absolute stranger then, who then e-mailed me and offered to be my 'agent'
in Kuwait. Little later this Ulysses Menezes, also an absolute stranger
then, e-mailed me asking for a write up about my offer and some photos. Few
days later I see a webpage has been put up for EXPRESSIONS at Goa-World.net
- - free of cost!

Ever since then Gaspar and Ulysses have continued to promote EXPRESSIONS
for no monetary, or other, benefit to themselves.

In 1999 I wrote to them about my friend William Rodrigues, a professional
photographer. I sent a write up and some of William's photos. Within hours
they has set up a webpage for William - again free of cost. Similar they
have helped so many Goan enterprises, and indivduals, with their abilities,
time, network and the Goa-world.net website.

Marlon, I know this concept is difficult for you to grasp. The concept that
a true Goan will sometimes help a fellow Goan from the goodness of his
heart, and not for some commercial gain. In the last few years of
EXPRESSIONS existence, similar to Gaspar and Ulysses, I have come across
dozens of Goans who recommend EXPRESSIONS services and promote us with no
recompensation in mind. Yes, many such good Goans exist, all over the world.

So please try and understand, I know that it is difficult for you, that
Gaspar and Ulysses are NOT and NEVER WERE business partners with
EXPRESSIONS or any other firm, or individual in Goa, that I am aware of.
Being a partner in a 'business' firm yourself you should be careful about
making such statements without a shred of truth.

- -----------------
Marlon
[To the rest of the netters:
What we are seeing here is a "set up" by this junta. One of them willfully
breaks the rules after apparently having been told several times (in
private) to stop promoting their business on this mailing list. ]

Marlon if you are man enough you will post this reply of mine too on GoaNet
so that the 'netters' know the truth of the matter. By suspending me you
conveniently have a scenario where you can take pot shots at me and I
cannot defend myself. Let the 'netters' hear my side of the story too.

Your use of the word 'apparently' shows that you are not sure quite sure of
your facts. I, Cecil Pinto, was warned just ONCE, and that too only about
my MODIFIED 'signature' . I reverted to my previous 'signature'
immediately. This previous 'signature' of mine had never been objected to
in my past one year of regular posting to GoaNet. That is the fact of the
matter. Ask Herman Carneiro. Again here you allude to 'private' e-mail that
does not exist. Either you show proof of 'multiple' warnings or you tender
me an apology for false accusations.

- --------------

Marlon:
[Upon removing this person, the rest of the junta jumps in by making
private threats against goanet. Next, new "members" we never knew we had
(such as our beloved Sonali), jump into the fray and repeat the same in
public. Man, these guys make some of our politicians in Goa look good.]

Marlon, I have heard you are outspoken - but FAIR. I urge you to re-examine
all the facts of the matter, clarify your 'apparents', and then only draw
your assumptions. Herman's lack of logic, and arbitrary decisions have
caused enough harm as it is. This is not so much about 'juntas' and
'cabals' as it is about one rash OWNER who did not get his facts right, and
rather than revert his decision, would rather drag the whole ship down.

[Marlon]
