C. D’SILVA’S NEW AUDIO CASSETTE RELEASED IN KUWAIT.
Veteran and one of the well known Goan stage artistes C. Dsilva while
attending the Songit Sanz organised by Kuwait Konknni Kendr on 11th of this
month in Kuwait City, released his new Konkani Album “Gaumkar”. The
cassette was released thru the hands of Fidelis Fernandes the president of
Konkani Heritage Kuwait during the Sangit Sanz Show. This being the fourth
cassette of D’Dilva, earlier he released 3 cassettes, all in Goa. This
cassette consists of 12 songs, 6 in each side, 8 of which are composed by
Silva and rendered by different singers. The title song “Gaumkar rendered
by Silva himself where he laments the outsiders settling in our villages.
Besides this title song he also sings a duo “Bapul Bhav” with his brother
Connie M, so also a solo “Plastic Potio”. The other interesting songs are
rendered by Menino Mario a solo “Axea”; Conny M. “Ghov Bhailam” a solo;
“Xamai Sangtali” a solo by Francis de Tuem and William de Curtorim “Porot
Etolom” a solo, Felcy rendered 3 songs two of which are solos “Roste
Boumtam” and “Modgaocho Bazar” and a Mando; Prince Jacob sings a solo
“Kamdar” and Duet “Maichem Bhangar “ by Menino Mario & Annie.
Soon after the release of this cassette like a hot cake the entire
consignment of it was sold, this is a sort of a record. Unless another lot
is prepared there is no more cassette left for sale with Silva who will be
leaving Kuwait for Goa on Tuesday early in the morning. Meanwhile, Konkani
Heritage Kuwait will be felicitating C. D’Silva today in one of the city
hotels for his enormous contribution in the development and promotion of
Konkani Stage. As a matter of interest, C. D’Silva was earlier in 2000
given a State Award by the Government of Goa and also by Kala Academy.
