Government order giving Rajesh Singh charge of
Director of Information to be challenged
The Goa Government Order dated 30th September 2002 appointing Mr. Rajesh
Singh to hold charge of the post of Director, Information and Publicity,
Government of Goa and conferring on him the administrative,
financial and statutory powers of the post of Director of Information is
being challenged.
In a legal notice sent to the Chief Secretary today Adv. Aires Rodrigues
has drawn Government's attention
to the recruitment rules for appointment to the post of Director of
Information and Publicity.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Mr. Rajesh Singh does not qualify at all for
such an appointment or even to
hold charge of the said post nor is he qualified to exercise the
administrative or financial powers of the
said post.
Mr Rajesh Singh was the BJP media adviser during the recent Assembly
elections and was appointed as the Press Liason Officer to the Chief
Minister on contract basis.
Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that from a lowly post Mr. Rajesh Singh,
has been given charge of the
high post of Director of Information and Publicity against all norms and
that Mr. Singh does not qualify
to hold charge of the post of Director of Information and Publicity and
that the order appointing Mr. Rajesh
Singh to hold charge of the post of Director of Information and Publicity
is therefore totally illegal
and in contravention of the recruitment rules and against public interest.
Adv. Rodrigues has called upon the Chief Secretary to urgently revoke the
said appointment order of Mr.
Rajesh Singh as in charge of the post of Director of Information and
Publicity by 22nd October 2002 or
else he shall e constrained to move the High Court in a Public Interest
Litigation.
