GL You make it sound like the fair-skinned pirates who molested the Konkan coasts of India came solely for the humane purpose of transforming the scenic villages of Goa into bustling metropolises. Goa would have caught the winds of change and advancement solely because, like Aden, Cambay, Mombasa and Cochin, it lay on a strategic sea route. The Portuguese gave us no favors. On the contrary, it is they who owe us.
