The invocation was musical by Ravi Shankar on the Sitar and Bismillah Khan
on the Shehnai.
Welcome address by Shri Yashwant Sinha, Minister of External Affairs was
very eloquent.
He said that that despite NRIs from different regions, different religions,
different languages, diffierent cultures, we can all boast
"Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani"
I was trying to watch the Prime Minister's address went the server went

Of interest to Canadians, Ujjal Dosanjh, former British Columbia's Premier
was one of ten distinguished NRIs from around the world honoured at the
Inaugural Session. Some others were Lord Navnit Dholakia, UK, Dr Manu
Chandaria, Kenya, and Sir Sridath Ramphal, Former Secretary General,
Commonwealth Secretariat, Guyana.
