People go to the Gulf to amass wealth. Many then aspire not to return to India but try their luck in North America. Now some are even aspiring from the Gulf to obtain Portuguese passports. There are no jobs available in Portugal besides one has to be pretty fluent in Portuguese. The aim of the people on acquiring a Portuguese passport is freedom of movement within the European Economic Community. Most will try to get to the United Kingdom!! Besides there are no taxes to be paid in the Gulf Countries. The life style is better (except of Saudi ). I do agree with you though that service in the Government is enviable and should be sought after. Is it any wonder why India cannot progress when half the civil servants are taking a sick chit!!
