Here is a teaser for Aldonkars to get online on   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Aldona has come alive since the rains subsided. The Aldona Institute hoisted the national tricolor on 15 August and followed it up with the finals of an All Goa Table Tennis tournament that saw seeded players sweat it out in close contests. This was followed by a General KnowledgeQuiz for students and a Jam Session. There was a  felicitation of the toppers at the SSC exams and of Aldonkars that have entered an Engineering College. The toppers receive a prize instituted in the name of Principal Edward Soares, who started a co-ed school during the colonial era andhelped educated children from Aldona,Nachinola,Moira,Pomburpa,Chorao,Tivim and Assonora. Many students of that school are teachers of repute today. The Aldona Institute welcomes contributions to enhance the corpus of the fund which supports this award to students of schools in Aldona (including Corjuem)Crossed Demand Drafts/Cheques may be drawn in favour of " ALDONA INSTITUTE-E.Soares Award" and sent to the Instituteat Tercena,Aldona-Goa 403508.

The card game of 'Truque' is a hot favourite in this area.Corjuem Club led the way.Aldona Institute,Chorao,Cansa-Tivim and other clubs followed. Each club's members sent teams to the event at other clubs. This brings about inter-club interaction. The Quitla Club organized a 7-a-side football tournament in September. The Aldona Institute had a similar event in October. Both received good response. After all,Goans love football.Once upon a time, Aldonkars Bernardo and Apolinario were star players who played for Vasco Club and Mahindras.Apollo is no more in his prime, but he played for the Aldona Institute team in October. He also organizes the security for major social events at the Institute. It is an unfortunate part of development that social events attract anti-socials to display their perversity by breaking glasses and bottles and creating 'scenes' that look like bar-room brawls from Bollywood. All the same,Aldona Institute's 35 th Anniversary Dine and Dance on 23 November was undoubtedly a success. So was the Parish Social in December where the strongest drink you can have is a Pepsi or Coke.It still attracts Aldonkars, with their entire families. The Christmas tree party this year was a big hit with the children.

The Police dogs showed men what obedience means. On 12 January2003, the dog squad of the C.I.D.-Anti Narcotic Cell came to the Tercena(According to Aldonkar Lamartine Rocha, the name is derived from the fact that a third [terca] of a military detachment was camped there for some time).Under the supervision of Asst.Sub Inspector of Police Dhanajay Shetye and the loving control of their respective handlers, the dogs sniffed out a bomb, drugs, the owner of a kerchief, etc. They also showed haw they can do the traditional role of a St.Bernard dog....first aid supply.
