But he could not foresee trouble knocking at his own door. This self-appointed 'Swamiji', better known as Kishore Shastri, made these claims in a three-column advertisement in a local daily. However, he was in for a rude shock when the city police came looking for him at a three-star city hotel and asked him some uncomfortable questions. When he could not answer their questions, the cops promptly arrested him under section 41 of the CrPC. After a search of his belongings, the police found cash of Rs 2.02 lakh for which the 'God-man' had no plausible explanation. Shastri, who claimed to be based in Haridwar, is actually a native of Jalgaon in Maharashtra and was apparently on his second visit to Goa. Advertised as "India's Famous Astrologer" Shastri claimed that he could make "accurate predictions" without consulting the horoscope and also said that his 'predictions' were "God gifted through generations and will power of God". He professed to be able to solve problems related to love, foreign tours, childlessness, divorce, higher education, acting and remarriage. Speaking to Gomantak Times, a police officer alleged that Shastri, believed to be about 38 years old, could not answer any of the questions asked by the raiding officers and wondered aloud about the number of people who were duped in this way.
