Folks, This had to happen! After eight years of reading some excellent authors and discussing some great ideas on Goanet, I have finally come across a person who not only has the capacity to author a moronic email, but is also able to inject the same with stupidity :-) Here is someone who merrily admits for the whole world to know that his idea of safety has not developed since (he was a teenager?) 20 years ago. He then goes on to make matters worse/(hilarious?) by declaring that his mentors in the matter are Sikhs who are not able to protect their heads. Unfortunately, the matter which Aries writes about is a serious matter. Had he been able to travel outside Goa he would be aware that govts of the progressive world enable legislation when it becomes necessary to protect their citizens. In Canada, every person on a motorbike has to wear a helmet. Every person in a car has to wear a seat belt. Car manufactures are required by law to provide airbags on the drivers side of a car and are forced by public demand to provide an airbag on the passenger side. Accidents do happen and the proper use of safety equipment DOES reduce the risk of injury or death. The crux of the matter is, does a society want to hear, I met with this terrible accident but luckily my helmet protected me from injury or does the society still want to hear that, My husband was not wearing a helmet. He died in a motorbike accident even though he was traveling at less than 39 Km per hour. In my humble opinion, those who spend time fighting against safety rules are either: 1) horribly misinformed or 2) just plain stupid.
