II DAY OF WAR AGAINST IRAQ.
Since today 21st March 2003 is the second day of the war for the liberation of Iraqi people from the brutal regime of Hitlerian Saddam Hussain, we in Kuwait are still calm and cool though streets look thin and sparse. Early in the morning at 7.00 A.M. Mass in the Catholic Church normal strength of the devotees was missing, mothers with small children were totally absent. In the morning very few customers were seen in the Restaurants in Kuwait City but in the afternoon being Friday�s holiday crowd seen in big number, as usual,purchasing gold and other precious items. There was heavy rush to purchase both the local English Dailies, normally English Dailies take off on Fridays but today as a special case both the dailies hit the stands.Arab Times came out with a big headline �AMERICA INVADES IRAQ�. Goan community members are exchanging phone calls to know the situation. Our Sour Ground soccer activities are suspended indefinitely and the Draw for the forthcoming soccer tournament to be organized by UG is also postponed to future date. Many of the already scheduled programmes by different communities are already cancelled or postponed indefinitely. Today morning Sirens sounded which created a scare in the minds of the people. According to available information Iraq today fired one Scudd Missile but Patriot stationed in Kuwait intercepted it. Otherwise there is no danger seen anywhere. Bishop of Kuwait Monsg. Frances Mechallef prayed fervently for the peace during the Mass at 7.00 A.M.
Though many people are volunteering to leave from Kuwait yet no tickets are available because many of the flights are cancelled. The news of Parikar taking interest in the well-being of Goans in Kuwait have reassured very few because overwhelming majority of Goans here know that Parrikar is a communal. His interest in Goans in this part of the world is just an eyewash to fool the minority community which is very gullible for getting flattered. Early in the morning today Fr. Gabriel Dias formerly parish priest of Kuwait Catholic Church phoned me from Goa and enquired about the well being of our people, so also Simon Carvalho ex Kuwait Goan, a Konknnivadi, Goa lover and currently leading a campaign in Goa against Birla�s anti-Goan policies at Sancoale called me yesterday late in the evening to enquire about safety of our people. While appreciating their concern for our safety, let me once again assure our people in Goa that there is no panicky situation in Kuwait and so far no member of Goan community fell victim to this war. Kuwait is well protected by anti-missile weapons namely Patriots to defend against the Scudds of Iraq. Military from USA and Britain will do excellent job in protecting Kuwait and all the residents of Kuwait. While they are defending and protecting Kuwait during the course of their war in liberating Iraqi people from Saddam regime, yesterday they suffered the first casualty when 12 of their precious military personnel died in a Helicopter accident. May God Rest their Souls In Peace and May God Give Courage for their family members to bear this colossal loss. They are the real protectors of peace in this world who came all the way from West to fight for the liberation of innocent people of the East (Iraq) and sacrificed their precious lives in the service of attainment of peace.
India has shown its dissatisfaction over USA & UK in going ahead with this war without the concent of UN. I also feel thus but who can stop Saddam Hussain from creating disorder in this world if more time is given after wasting last 12 years? It is not USA & Britain only who are fighting this war against Saddam, in fact there are so many nations, over 40, backing USA and Britain to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussain. Currently under communal BJP the voice of India in world affairs is very negligible even though India is a big country but ruled by small people. In Indian Kashmir Muslim demonstrators started accusing Bush and Blair. But what Bush and Blair can do none of the Indians either Hindus or Muslims can do. None of these shouting and demonstrating people can put things into order in Iraq. Saddam Hussain internally must be laughing at these shouting and demonstrating people. The shouting and demonstrating Muslims think that they are the custodians of Muslims. They must know that neither they nor Saddam Hussain are the custodians of Muslims, on the contrary Saddam Hussain is a disgrace on Muslims and that he was so it was proved when he invaded Muslim Kuwait, brutalized Muslim Kuwaiti people, killed and maimed with biological weapons his own Muslim people and harmed & killed innumerable Irani Muslim people. Yesterday Indian Chief Muslim Priest Syed Ahmed Bukhari flayed the war on Iraq as an attack on Islam and called on Islamic nations to rise against the United States. Bukhari must know that the current war waged against Saddam Hussain is not a war against Islam. It is a war against anti-Islam and Anti-Arab Saddam Hussain and his brute regime. Iraq does not belong to Muslims only. Besides Muslims there are innumerable Christians in Iraq and as such Iraq belongs to Christians also. The onslaught of American War is faced equally by Christians too along with Muslims in Iraq and as such it is not right to equate Iraq with Muslims only. Many times the fight of Palestinians is equated with Muslims only as if there are no Christian Palestinians in Palestine. In fact some of the deadliest fighters for the cause of independent Palestine are Christians and among the worst suffered from Israeli Jews were Christians. In Palestine there are many factions fighting against Israeli rule. One of the deadliest factions is headed by Christian Dr. George Habbash. One of the deadliest female commandos was one young lady Fatima by name and Roman Catholic Archbishop Cappuchi had the greatest distinction of helping the Palestine cause against the Jewish Israel. He was caught while smuggling arms to Palestinian fighters and sentenced for long term prison. So, it must be known now that Palestine and Iraq are not inhabited by Muslims only, they are inhabited by large number of Christians also of different denominations. So the war against Iraqi Saddam Hussain regime is not a communal war.
