Friday Balcao the fortnightly discussion event to be held on 28th March will feature the topic, situation of Child Domestic Workers in Goa.
Friday Balcao will have a sharing by Fr. Desmond de Souza from Porvorim and associated with the Domestic Workers Movement.
Fr Desmond de Sousa has been involved in social issues in Goa and internationally for the last 30 years. In Goa over the last 8 years he has been training people for involvement in social issues with migrants and tourism. He has been involved with migrants in Goa and especially with domestic workers and children in domestic work over the last three years.
The Balcao discussion will cover the origins of child domestic work in Goa, the background of the child domestic workers, the national and international laws & conventions which regulate this labour and the various Government agencies
Those citizens wanting to participate in the discussion at Friday Balcao are urged to attend the event. Friday Balcao will be from 4pm to 6pm at the Goa Desc Resource Centre No.11 Liberty Apartments Feira Alta, Mapusa and is open to members of the public.
Those citizens who would like to receive the regular invitation to Friday Balcao and a one page synopsis of the fortnightly session can subscribe for the same by sending Rs.80/- to cover printing and mailing costs.
