Most of the educated Americans, are against the war. If one see the ages of the soldiers
that have been killed or injured so far, most of them have been hardly out of their teens!
Until 9/11, hardly anybody knew where Afghanistan was. The world for the Americans
ends south of the Canadian border and north of the Mexican one!
If one looks at the history of the US, over the past century, US has been involved in
all the major wars -- World WarI, II, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War. The sad part of this
war is that, a bunch of idiots, who consider themselves as 'experts', have ordered the
US Army into war, to prove their theories! The media has played its part in terming
any anti-war activist as Anti-American! Some on Goanet have started toeing that line.
Rumours are being converted to facts!
If one reads the likes of Thomas Friedman or Rafeek Zakaria, one can clearly see how
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz are trying to push their views onto the rest of
the world. A guy like Colin Powell is only good enough to be a loyal soldier! All the
networks are jockeying for ratings and revenues by glamorizing the war. The conservatives
are having a field day in maligning any person that opposes the war. The sympathy and
goodwill that was generated after 9/11 has been frittered away by the Bush Administration.
Rumsfeld's arrogance is evident at each of his press briefings.
No big corporations lined up to reconstruct Afghanistan, whereas lots have been granted
contracts for Iraq and the obvious reason for that is OIL. The money of the Iraqi people
will be used to reconstruct Iraq that is being destroyed by the US and will perhaps finance
the war, started to do just that! Amazing! Well, once Iraq is stable, the US and Britain will
be the first to sell its arms and armaments too! Ex-POWs from the last Persian Gulf war
have also started lining up to get their share of the money, by claiming that they were
tortured by the Iraqis after the war in 1991! The US courts are also apt at rewarding them!
Yes, Democracy would be good for the rest of the world, but what if the
people of the middle east start electing the radical mullahs, democratically! There could
be a surge of anti-American activity all over. As it is, the pictures of war presently being
broadcast by Al-Zajeera and Abu Dhabi TV have created more hatred in the muslim world.
I recently watched -Thomas L. Friedman Reporting: Searching for the Roots of 9/11, and
one could see how the Arab world perceives the US. There were quite a few young kids
who hated the US. Many of the 9/11 hijackers were well educated people. I think the US
has to try and understand and respect the rest of the world, instead of trying to ram their
dogmatic policies and agenda, down everybody's throats.
Saddam Hussein is a menace, the innocent Iraqis are not. I hope that there is a quick resolution
to this war, with as few casualties as possible.

No Vivian! It is not true. It is bogus propaganda. I was hoping you would read the information on the Snopes.com link that I had provided in my last post on this thread. Snopes.com is a well-known and highly respected site that exposes internet rumors and chain letter emails. I am sure Goanet does not want to perpetuate such lies. What has been alluded to in the above quote by Vivian is just such a lie. Here once again is the snopes.com link that tells us why:
