Dear Netters, After having carefully gone through today's Herald editorial (5/6/03), I feel it relevant to publish the following correspondence. This is for your kind information and only to make a point that pro-active approach is necessary. Appreciating good things does not mean that criticising bad things must stop.

With regards, Yours sincerely, (MANOHAR PARRIKAR) CHIEF MINISTER ----- Original Message ----- From: goasuraj To: Chief Minister of Goa Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 9:13 AM Subject: CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CHIEF MINISTER, SHRI MANOHAR PARRIKAR 13th. May, 2003 To, Shri Manohar Parrikar, Honourable Chief Minister of Goa. Via: e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sir, We take this opportunity to offer you our sincere "congratulations" for having gotten for Goa the much deserved recognition that was alluding it for the last 41 years. It is, by no means, a small achievement to be declared the "Best Managed State in the Union of India. It must have, no doubt, made you a very proud Chief Minister for having to receive this prize and we heartily share it with you. We do acknowledge the potential that Goa possesses to maintain this valued trophy for a long period of time to come, if we can only focus on the priorities that need to be energized towards the all round development of Goa to make it environmentally and ecologically friendly at all times. For endless time, since the liberation of Goa, we have been seeing crude, make shift arrangements everywhere, which were here today, and gone the next day, so to speak. This has special reference to the Alto Porvorim track of the NH 17. Thanks to your endeavours, what we see today in this area is a semblance of actual development of contemporary times, comparable to any developed country in the world. This also goes for the development of the City of Panjim with regards to the side walks, gutters and greening of open spaces. Seeing is believing, is what the slogan goes. We see it. And we believe it. You being the son of Mapusa, we urge you to direct your firm attention to this dear town with respect to the Kadamba terminal, which is a special eye sore and a potential health hazard. This, coupled with due attention given to our prized "Mapusa Market", which seems to have been invaded by hawkers, and, the imminent death of our dear "Mapusa River", no one will ever blame you for having put your efforts into cleaning and saving this town, for it will be taken as your prerogative, first, as the son of Mapusa and then, the first citizen of Goa. In time, we need to see all our towns and cities showing-up smart and healthy and seeming capable of holding this prized trophy forever that you have worked towards achieving. We commend you on your achievements. for Goa Su-Raj Party Sd/- (Floriano Lobo) President. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
