FUNDACAO ORIENTE TO SPONSOR SOCIAL HARMONY GROUP'S RESEARCH PROJECT - 'HERITAGE TRAIL, 16th CENTURY
Fundacao Oriente will sponsor a research project called HERITAGE TRAIL, 16th CENTURY to be conducted by the Social Harmony Group headed by Arch. K.D. Sadhale with Shri Vinayak V. Khedekar as the Project Incharge over a period of 3 years. The project is a joint initiative of the Social Harmony Group and the Fundacao Oriente. The objective of the project is to document the cultural synthesis of the State of Goa in its real sense and in an authentic manner. It will attempt to describe the cultural wealth of Goa and Goans through comprehensive and methodical field studies which will help illustrate the cultural heritage, the social history of Goan communities along with the socio-cultural, agro-economical and religio-spiritual aspects of Goan society. Some of the cultural areas that will be covered are : Music, Drama, Oral Traditions, Crafts, Visual Arts, Traditional Crafts and Ethnic Lifestyles and the impact on the culture of communities of such emotions like Village Gods, deities and supernatural powers, the caste system, the dialect and environmental conditions including natural water resources. The project shall be undertaken in three phases. The first phase will cover the old conquests viz. Tiswadi, Bardez, Salcete and Mormugao talukas. The second phase will cover Canacona, Sanguem and Quepem talukas and the third phase will cover Pernem, Sattari, Bicholim and Ponda tehsils. The project will be executed through a five-fold programme : 1.Survey - To be done for 3 stages, viz.
