There has been a hullabaloo about Edgar Martins message titled "Re: Now we are afraid to die" dated June 3, 2003.
Jayson Blair was fired from the NYT recently because he indulged, among other things, in plagiarization. His crime would have been overlooked if he came clean. Unfortunately for him, he did not, and he was subsequently fired! Edgar Martins' lengthy essay on his childhood smacks of the same flavor of Blair... After receiving a couple of misguided accolades from people who did not know, Edgar should have been gracious enough to acknowledge that it was not altogether his brainchild.
