It is a well researched book (in my view), it has the effect of exonerating the "Portuguese" (i.e. the civilian side of the dynamics) for the atrocities meted out to the Indians, specially a the time of the Inquisition, and sheaths the blame home to the Catholic Church, specifically St. Francis Xavier and the Spanish missionaries and the clique. ISBN: 972-8075-838-3. Once you obtain a copy, with your superb command of English, you would do well to offer the publishers to translate the book. As I read it, I could not but be fervid and livid.
