_______________________________________ Seminar on Ground Water Resources Act 2002 """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Saligao is suffering from severe drought. The underground water table is depleted. Saligao and Pilerne have been declared scarcity villages under the Ground Water Resources Act 2002. Villagers are organising a joint seminar to find out the reasons for the scarcity and to see how the Ground Water Resources Act can safeguard village interests. The seminar is being jointly organised by Saligao Panchayat, Saligao Communidade, Hindu Sabha, Parish Council, Salmona Paryavaran Manch and Saligao Civic & Consumer Cell. Shri J S Hosamani, Ground Water Cell Officer and Shri D P Verma, Superintendant of Police, North Goa are being invited to educate the villagers on the Ground Water Resources Act, 2002. The seminar will be held on Sunday, 8th June 2003 at 11 am in the Panchayat Hall. It is open to the public, especially the surrounding villages of Pilerne, Sangolda, Parra, Nagoa and Calangute, that suffer from a depleted underground water table.
