the Congress Party would have solved this problem? I for one don't think so. One can
argue in favour of more funds for combating AIDS, but the Government alone cannot
solve it all together. People have to change their lifestyles. Recently, saw a report
on BBC, where Muslims in UP refused free Polio doses for their kids and some of them
eventually did get Polio! The reason cited for not accepting the free Polio vaccination, was
that the Government was trying to sterilize their kids! Amazing!
I think that the Nuclear bomb has been an effective deterrent both against Pakistan
and China. At least India did it openly. Pakistan might have had it for a long time. Those
against the nuclear weapons will have deferring opinions, but it has been pretty much
impossible to reason with Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. Ever since East Pakistan
was liberated and Bangladesh created by India in 1971, the Pakistanis have been itching
to get even, at first trying to destabilize Punjab and then Kashmir. One must remember
that in all the wars that India has fought so far, all of them have been started by the
other power -- 1948, 62, 65, 71.

The current government is more worried about building nuclear bombs and other weapons rather than using those funds to help those in need. This is only one of the everyday problems that can be fixed if BJP & cronies do what is good for the country and not pander to the radicals ( Advani, Fernandes, etc).
