I was thoroughly appalled by JoaoSocor-LarinNunilla de Melo's solution to Mr. PVLaxman's
dilemma. If the world followed the "Sons of the Soil" attitude, many of our fellow Goans
would not have experienced the relative luxury and affluence of a place like Kuwait!

Also to Fred's mention about "What about the tens of thousands of Goan employees
who suffer from the same affliction?", perhaps no Goans were ready to take this job
at the salary mentioned by PVLaxman and might have run away to Kuwait! I would
also say that Goans in general have at least a roof on their heads. From what I read
about the Persian Gulf, the countries in that region are themselves starting to adopt
the 'Sons of the Soil' policies. It may not be long, before many Goans will be forced to
return to their homeland and see for themselves, how bad the salaries and job situation
are!

I think that the question posed by Mr.PVLaxman is a very legitimate one.

What about the tens of thousands of Goan employees who suffer from the
same affliction? Salaries are really low here. Instead of fighting over
the cake, we really have to start to think in terms of increasing the size
of the cake. What say? FN
