Hon. Secretary of All India Foot-ball Federation Mr. Alberto Colaco just today arrived in Kuwait as a guest of Kuwait Indian Foot-ball Federation. Mr. Colaco arriving by Emirates Airlines at 8.30 A.M. will be in Kuwait for 4 days and on Friday he will be attending as Chief Guest the KIFF League Soccer final at the prestigeus Al Arabi Stadium. The final will be played between Navelim Youth Centre and United Friends Club at 7.00 p.m. The final will be preceded by third and fourth placed match between Goan Overseas Association and AVC Club at 5.30. During his stay in Kuwait Mr. Colaco who is also a member of Asian Soccer Confederation (Technical Committee) will be meeting with the local Kuwait Foot-ball Association & Asian Soccer Confederation officials. A get together arranged by KIFF will be held in addition to special meeting with KIFF Referees at Hotel Holiday Inn and Hotel Continental on 25th & 26th respectively.
It is a great pleasure especially for Goans to welcome Alberto Colaco to Kuwait with open arms as he is the first such personality among Goans to visit Kuwait. When any politician or minister from Goa comes to Kuwait his visit goes unnoticed from the eyes and ears of local authorities. But in the case of Colaco it is totally different. Immediately after his arrival local Kuwaiti soccer authorities and top personalities welcomed him and took care of him. Immediately after aircraft landed he was picked up by the top Kuwaiti dignitaries. During his 4 days stay he will have number of meetings with the top officials of Kuwait and Asian soccer organizations. During these meetings he will surely disclose his Goan identity and hence everyone will come to know the greatness of Goans in India.
It is nice to praise KIFF for inviting Colaco to Kuwait. Since the time of 1979 when United Goans Foot-ball Centre established competitive soccer at Sour Grounds Kuwait City not a single top Goan sports personality was invited to Kuwait. This is the first time we have top Goan sports personality for which rightly KIFF took the initiative which is nice. My Goan ego is elated and in this frame of mind I on behalf of all my like minded Goans welcome Colaco to Kuwait.
