On May 2nd 2002, the Supreme Court of India ruled that candidates contesting parliamentary or assembly elections must disclose: a.. Their criminal records (convictions, acquittals, charges..), if any b.. Their assets and liabilities (including those of their spouses and dependents) c.. Their educational qualifications. The ruling is so important that it has the potential to change the landscape of India for all the times to come. This is our fundamental right to information!. On July 8, 2002 all political parties unanimously rejected the SC ruling on various unworthy grounds. Now a draft bill is being circulated, which if passed as law, will nullify the entire SC ruling. This is a rare opportunity for the silent majority to make itself heard. If we don't, we would have no one else to blame. You can make yourself heard. What you need to do: 1..
