Interesting initiative, Mario. What does this exactly imply? In view of the repeated changes in email address on DoT/GoaTelecom/BSNL/Sancharnet, would it be possible to consider giving a lifetime email-bounce facility. Using this, anyone could signup for an address, say [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- and that mail could be directed to whichever ISP they're then using. In such a situation, the we wouldn't be getting so irritated everytime there's a change. Some of us have already opted for our own domain names. But it's not feasible for everyone to do so. I was recently listening to Prof G Sivakumar, head of the IIT Mumbai computer centre. They offer 100 MB mailboxes to students (yes, 100 MB, this is no typo) and, after the students graduate, they give them a lifetime bounce facility to any address of their choice. As Dr Siva explained: "Alumni are important to us nowadays." (We've all heard of the alumni-support IITs have been getting.) >From our own perspective, having an email address which you can confidently carry with you for some period of time is as important as having a name which doesn't mysteriously change every few months. As a journalist, and a freelancer at that, one only knows how important it is for unknown people to get in touch with you as and when they want to. (I still get people trying to contact me on [EMAIL PROTECTED], and agonise how many fail to contact me due to these changing email addresses.) All in all, a good initiative from your side, Mario.
