It is good for the soul that sometimes we stoop and drink at the fountain of humility. This is where the essence of greatness springs forth and delights the human soul.

The word PEZ seems to emerge (or be misused) recently in posts to derive a derogatory meaning.

For the benefit of those in the audience who are not familiar with the word: Pez is rice water (plain rice + water) rice boiled to an extreme degree to render it soft (or softest stage), normally eaten during the early hours of the day by local Goans (mainly by poor peasants).

It is believe that pez strengthens the soul of the local Goan peasant, as (wo)man and beast begin a long and arduous days work in the field.

God bless the pez eaters -- for Goa truly belongs to such as these who strive to keep Goa shining -- through toil of sweat and blood.

Best wishes,
Joe Vaz

Dear Goenkars,

Dr.Gilbert Lawrence is correct about the 'pez' that we tend to become."What
you eat,you become." is the new dictum. The Goa Tourism Dept. and 'amcho
bhao Micky Pacheco' organized a 'Goan Food Festival' at Colva in May to
serve (almost exclusively!).....tandoori chicken !!!!

However the topic he raises is an important one."Opportunity comes knocking
but once" as the saying goes. And afterthose endless debates, all we have
are a lot of broken shells whilesomebody else has made the omelet.

International Film festival to be located in Goa. The only voices on the
film festival on theGoanet (the smart Goans both within and out of Goa) were
against the project. Other countries spend millions of dollars trying to woo
aninternational event like the summer or winter Olympics or Asian games. In
Goa, we turn them away because we want to continue to have our pez.=:))
