GOACOM DAILY NEWS CLIPPINGS 09 July 2003 PMC TO THE RESCUE OF ALTINHO: The Corporation of the City of Panaji has decided to freeze any development or construction activity on the slopes of Altinho with steep gradient in the wake of a spate of landslips in the eco-fragile zone. Landslips around Altinho have not been a new feature but the increased incidence this year has caused worry to residents at the foot of the hill and the city fathers. In all, 13 landslips have been reported since the monsoon start this year causing an estimated loss of Rs.90 lakh. (GT)

(GT) RAINS GIVE TOUGH TIME: The past few days which witnessed heavy rainfall in the State might have brought relief to the local farmer community, but it was a nightmarish experience for the employees of the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology situated along the Rua de Ourem road, in Panaji. However, D'Souza expressed his inability to do so as his office was not provided with labourers by the Mormugao Municipal Council or any other authority. (GT) SKY BUS METRO: The State government is contemplating on having a Sky Bus Metro for Panjim from the KTC bus stand to Miramar. This was disclosed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar during and interactive session with Together for Panjim, a campaign initiated by the CCP, on mass transit systems for Panjim, held in the city on Tuesday.
