The Master Manipulators - (TidBits -024) Two news items in the local newspapers that I would like to comment on, this Sunday the 13th. of July, 2003. Both dominate the arena of Indian politics, both having repercussions on national as well as regional spheres.
The Navhind Time's curtain raiser "Declining interest in science worries Vajpayee" merited a second look. Politicians are funny. They see a speck on the horizon but fail to see the boulder on their noses. Since his entry into the august office of the Prime Minister of India, Vajpayee has been totally engrossed in science and science alone , the science of catapulting himself, his RSS and his BJP into power, on divisive and communalistic lines, the science of brutal killing of minorities, the science of mass distribution of weapons of mass destruction of minorities, the science of building temples over mosques and churches, and the science of trampling of the Secularity of the Nation and turning it into a fundamentalist state. Minds, specially of youth, who would be otherwise channelised toward real sciences, have been diverted in body and soul to defend and follow the newly acquired science of RAM Temple and Ramrajya of the medical science drop-out, Togadia. It is purely "FOLLOW THE LEADER" with the nation of sheep blindly following in the footsteps of perverted , self seeking and self appointed leaders. Vajpayee, of all persons, has no moral right to moan over the lack of interest in science in the nation. The latest science that he will be indulging in is the science of " BJP to consider Ayodhya Legislation" sending the nation a clear signal that when decent means fail, resort to gundagiri in the name of democracy in the Parliament. The science of Judicial Justice in the nation seems to be dying. National Conference (NC) has done the right moral thing by getting out of the NDA. Others in the NDA should evaluate their moral standing as well, not just looking at power and pelf. The Herald's "Congress party workers blame higher-ups for poll debacle" and Navhind Time's "Congress not averse to form govt. in Goa" proffering the Charlie Chennithala's "Limca book of records" cheerful mug couldn't be missed. Time, yet again, to replenish the bank accounts that have been depleted through extensive Middle East shopping jaunts since the last booty from dishing out party tickets, left, right, and center for winnable candidates. If the Goa Congress has any grass-root organization left that is worth a creditable name , it must first ask Sonia Gandhi to boot Chennithala out of the Goa affairs and Goa permanently. Secondly, the grass-root organization should demand the ultimate say in the matter of choosing candidates for the Congress tickets, constituency/block wise. Then only they can escape being fooled like clowns by the dictats of the Corrupt High Command and the connivance of the leaders of Congress in Goa. Luizinho Faleiro and Pratapsing Raoji Rane have no moral right to lambast the Goa BJP, for, they have both been its tacit supporters from behind the curtains through their sins of commission and ommision. Who are they fooling? If congress is to work towards the ouster of the Goa BJP, then it must ameliorate its relations with other secular parties and adopt a formula of give and take, with an uncompromising "YES" to the 6 member cabinet" and a "NO" to chairmanship/directorships of Govt Corporations/Institutions to elected MLAs" This is the only sure recipe for the ultimate extrication of GOA from the hand of the "SAFFRON" do- gooders, who have come as wolves in sheep's clothing to fool Goa and Goans.
