Dear Sir,
C.M. fooling the public.
Your esteemed Newspaper carried a front page news item today on the Sky Bus
Metro project. The item also states that "The chief minister, however, also
welcomed suggestions from a wide section of professionals from Panjim for bus
bays and urban transportation systems so as to solve traffic congestions
currently irking the city."
The People's Movement for Civic Action had placed a very detailed plan for the
decongestion of Panjim at least two years ago. Mr. Parrikar, as the M.L.A.
from Panjim, was involved with the formulation of the plan even before he
became the Chief Minister. The Plan received the unstinting support of all the
departments concerned, including the Traffic Police. In fact after he became
the Chief Minister, Mr. Parrikar made a decision to implement the plan, which,
by the way, does not involve heavy financial outlays. It only needs
reorganization of the traffic flow within the City, and relocating the parking
areas. The creation of bus bays is included in the Plan, and has received the
approval of the Municipality, the Traffic Police, the R.T.O., the Town and
Country Planning Authority, among others.
There is no reason why an elaborate traffic plan, which has already been
supported by all the departments concerned, and has also been approved by Mr.
Parriker himself, as the current Chief Minister, should not be implemented in
toto. Can Mr. Parrikar explain to the citizens of Panjim why he has deferred
the implementation of this Plan for so long?
Yours faithfully,
Averthanus D'Souza,
