----------------------------------------------------------------------- Documented by Goa Desc Documentation Service & circulated by Goa Civic & Consumer Action Network (GOA CAN)<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Ph:2252660 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Bus owners' association chief resigns -------------------------------------------------------- President of the All-Goa Bus Owners Association (AGBOA) Subhash Sawant is believed to have resigned from the post he has held for the past 18 years, amidst noisy scenes at a meeting in Shastri hall in Ponda.
Many members of the association had alleged that Sawant was unable to give justice to the grievances of the bus owners in the State and had demanded his resignation. Accordingly, Sawant stated that if he was not required in the association, then he would resign from the post and left the meeting abruptly.
Association Vice President Rajnikant Naik was later asked to hold the post of president. Naik is expected to lead a delegation which will meet Transport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar on Wednesday. Others in the delegation include Avinash Shirodkar, Mahindra Naik, Felix Fernandes, Manuel Rodrigues, Govardhan Phadte and Premanand Kothambikar. -------------------------------- HERALD 17/7/03 page 7 --------------------------------
