Lorenia,
Goa , which used to be an overseas province of Portugal until 19th December
1961 used to fly the flag of Portugal until then.
Now that Goa has become a part of India ( they follow the federal system like
the USA in India..........Goa is just one of many states that India is made up
of.).......the flag flown in Goa is the Indian flag..........ie the three
coloured flag of orange, white and green in 3 parrallel bands with a
24-spoked wheel in the centre white band which is called a "
chakra"........I think it has something to do with the spinning wheel that
the early nationalists who fought for independence of India from the
British used as a symbol of resistance.............though I`m not very sure
of that.
I shall recommend 2 websites to you......where you will find a lot of
information on the history, culture, geography of Goa. They are
www.goacom.com. ...............& www.goenkar.com
I shall also send you another website in the next e-mail directing you to a
web-site if you need more infoormation on India.
I hope I have been of some help to you.
Cheers!
