----------------------------------------------------------------------- Documented by Goa Desc Documentation Service & circulated by Goa Civic & Consumer Action Network (GOA CAN)<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Ph:2252660 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- HC directs clearing of Palolem kiosks ------------------------------------------------------- The Panjim bench of the Bombay High Court has directed that all the temporary seasonal kiosks and other establishments within the 200 meters High Tide Level at Palolem, Canacona are to be cleared before July 29, failing which the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) has been asked to raze them using a bulldozer on July 30.
In case the municipal authority fails in its duty, the Canacona Mamlatdar and Deputy Collector (South) has been directed to forward the report on the same to the High Court.
In its judgement, the High Court directed the Canacona Municipality to give preference to the 55 kiosks to get seasonal licenses for business activities for a period of 5 years. The licenses can be allowed to them only from October to May. For this period, they should deposit Rs 2,500 per season in the municipal treasury, failing which they will forfeit their deposit, noted the High Court.
Incidentally, a dispute over the land on which licenses are allotted to the 55 kiosks is presently being fought between the CMC and a private property owner in the court.
Meanwhile, with the assistance of Joint Mamlatdar of Canacona Paresh Fal Desai and Canacona Police, the Administrator of Communidade demolished an illegal house constructed at Gaondongrem in the Communidade land on Thursday.
As per the demolition started last year, there is every fear that nearly 400 illegal constructions situated in communidade land at Loliem-Madditolop, Dupemol (Bhatpal), Mastimol and Agonda will be demolished in a phased manner.
