Withering Indian English and science Chellam Balasundaram and P. Mariappan http://www.iisc.ernet.in/~currsci/dec252001/contents.htm
Here is an interesting article that I chanced upon and that addresses both the brain drain and the language problems that we Indians face. Its not novel but I thought it would give me an opportunity to introduce the journal Current Science http://www.iisc.ernet.in/~currsci/contents.htm to Goa netters who might not be aware of it - especially those who have been educated overseas. Current Science is in the genre of Nature although its citation value isn't anywhere close to Nature!!! But what might be appealing to many netters are the popular articles on a wide range of topics that would never have been covered in Western journals. For example: Indian universities, mangroves, IT, health and nutrition and even Indian gooseberries! Hope everyone finds something!!! --Helga ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
