Subject: Appeal For Urgent Help in Supporting our Indian American Community-Contribute Now!

Dear USINPAC Supporter:

I am writing to you to both thank you for the consistent and on going support provided during the early months of our existence and appeal for your urgent help, because in spite of our major victories, we face new and growing challenges every day.

Since its founding 9 months ago as the only active bi-partisan Political Action Committee for Indian Americans, USINPAC (United States India Political Action Committee) has grown rapidly outside of its Washington DC base and now has over 20,000 members from all over the country. Because of your support, we have been able to transform the profile of our Indian American community. Because of your support, for the first time our community has gained real visibility on Capitol Hill with an emerging and forceful collective voice. No longer are we seen as a fragmented community only interested in important local or social issues, but as a serious national community that has very real concerns as it digs its roots in this country. In only nine months, we have raised Indian American issues at every forum - sponsoring Indian Americans in public office and on the federal bench; defending our community in bias cases; honoring fallen shuttle astronaut Dr. Kalpana Chawla in Congress and sponsoring legislation (in the face of intense Pakistani government opposition) that would seek to protect India from cross-border terrorism. There are articles about us in almost every major newspaper in the United States, India and Pakistan, and on media outlets ranging from Voice of America to Star TV. We need you to financially support us now. Please make a pledge by clicking here

India is still suffering from horrendous casualties due to terrorism. No country has suffered more under the appalling strains of terrorism than India, with over 40,000 dead in the last decade; virtually all of this terrorism emanating from Pakistan - one of our critical "allies" in the War on Terror, and a major recipient of US taxpayers money.

Thousands of Pakistan-trained guerrillas have infiltrated into India to massacre civilians, government employees, security forces, and anybody who does not agree with their vision of a fundamentalist religious state.

TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES, AT OUR URGING, THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSED A BILL BY AN OVERWHELMING 382-42 MARGIN ON JULY 16, 2003 THAT REQUIRES THE PRESIDENT TO ANNUALLY REPORT PAKISTAN'S COMPLIANCE WITH ITS COMMITMENTS TO ENDING TERRORISM AND PROLIFERATION OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION TO THE US CONGRESS.

Complete details of the passage of this bill can be found at http://www.usinpac.com/70503_nr.asp. These are in line with the stipulations made by the Administration while announcing the $3 billion aid package to Pakistan in June 2003. THIS IS A MAJOR VICTORY, SOMETHING WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF.

USINPAC needs your ongoing financial support to help our friends in the US Congress who are working on our behalf to stop terrorism in India and defend the interests of Indian Americans. We urgently need your support. You can join us; you can volunteer on one of our legislative committees; you can work with your local elected officials; you can introduce USINPAC to your friends; but most of all we need your support financially.

PLEASE CONTRIBUTE NOW AND SUPPORT THIS VITAL CAUSE THAT IS CRITICAL TO BOTH THE UNITED STATES AND INDIA BY CLICKING HERE http://www.usinpac.com/contribute.asp A grassroots campaign of one to two million Americans will have the power to defeat the interests that work against Indian Americans and India.

For many years the Indian American community has grown and prospered in this country. But with these new uncertain times, and critical decisions being taken that affect our community, we have no choice but to organize and find our political voice - not only in our own interests, but for those of future generations of Indian Americans. This support is critical as we enter the next election cycle, where we will be competing to have our interests heard. USINPAC continues to look after the interests of our community. During this time of terrorism, recession and general uncertainty for immigrant communities, it is imperative that we make our voices heard and raise the public profile of Indian Americans in Washington DC.

We have come a long way in a short period. We are where we are today because you have given so much of your time and resources to make it all happen. Thank you for all you have done. We now need your continued support. Let's grow the movement, and together, with thousands more beside us, we will have even stronger representation in 2004. Please contribute and make a financial pledge now http://www.usinpac.com/contribute.asp.

We also need more word of mouth to increase our 20,000 member base to 200,000. Send this email to 10 other people you know and get them to register at our website http://www.usinpac.com/regform.asp. As always, I am personally available to anyone who might want to drop a line or two. I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

Yours Truly,
