PANAJI: While several states are struggling to computerise their land records after deadlines are extended, Goa is gearing up to emerge as the leading state in the country by completing the Integrated Land Records System (ILRS) for the entire state through its recently-launched `Dharani' project by December this year. This will make Goa the only state in the country to issue on demand a copy of an authenticated digitalised map of land records through all its mamlatdar offices or the facilitation centres being set up in addition to it, Jayashree Raghuraman, revenue secretary of Goa told ET. She, however, admitted that smallness of size has also helped the state in achieving the targets well ahead of time. The Rs 4-crore Dharani project, funded on 75:25 basis by the Centre and the state, will ensure computerisation and digitalisation of its land records. Tiny Goa with only 11 talukas has already completed 100% computerisation of land records and 40% of the digitalisation work of maps. At present, all the mamlatdar offices in the state are connected online, said Ms Raghuraman. She said this was also available at facilitation centres which add on to the mamlatdar offices for availability of land records. ``The whole thing will help reduce grievances about delays in service as also tackling the allegation of corruption,'' she said. Our Dharani project is unique in the sense that we will have in the country for the first time all text and graphic land data of entire Goa ready to be issued to the people on demand, said Ms Raghuraman, arguing that Goa's Dharani project would be an improvement over Karnataka's Bhumi project which comprises only textual data. Ms Raghuraman disclosed that at the last week's meeting of revenue secretaries of states in Delhi, Goa was lauded for its performance and progress on the land records front. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
