It does help to bring to the Goan hearth one home truth that we all should grab, "...let's not destroy other GOANS, LIKE CRABS." I appreciate your fourth verse written in truly Catholic vein, like many of your postings on the Nets. >>
Dear Basilio: Thanks for your kind words and noble sentiments. Unfortunately, the current trend has been just that -- a couple of crabs trying to destroy all Goans and Goanet. This will be the subject of a subsequent post as Goanet completes a decade in Cyberia. Also thanks for your Happy CGN Anniversary wishes and Marian song: POLLE, SUNDOR TI! Both the Konkani version and English translation have been posted at *CGN Website's "ARTICLES" link. The Goans we knew during our forty years stay in and around Karachi were all Roman Catholics with the exception of one Muslim. Hence the "Catholic" vein which always throbs :-) Your "hit" song, Proud to be a Goan, truly encapsulates our identity, as mentioned by Frank D'Abreo. Yes, we reveled in the first Goa Day 2001 Celebrations which also coincided with CGN's First Anniversary, but like everything, the novelty wears out. We live out Goa Day as we inhale and exhale every day of our lives without pretense or vainglory. That is what true Goan Culture is all about -- helping out any Goan, anywhere -- instead of pitying or expressing "chuchure" in mock pretense. Oh, we wish there were Goanet Hospitality Committees in every nook and corner of the globe, but then again some may have taken advantage of the situation and caused that wonderful program to fizzle out. Usually there are more takers than givers, or opportunists. We salute the 2003 Goa Day revelers around the globe, this third year in a row!
