UTT GOENKARA !! SINQUERIM NEEDS PROTECTION
The Sinquerim Heritage & Nature Club is a response by the people of Sinquerim to the recent attempts by powerful business interests to commercialise and privatise our beautiful village and its natural and historical heritage in the name of 'Tourism'.
We are people of good will who are deeply in love with our tiny village and fearful of loosing the wonderful natural and historical heritage endowed upon this tiny piece of land.
Amidst rampant cutting of trees, ground water pollution, leveling of sand dunes and mushrooming of ugly buildings in the neighbouring villages, Sinquerim has inadvertently become the lungs of the Calangute - Candolim tourism belt.
We believe that this rich and priceless natural beauty of undulating hills, washed by the foaming waves of the Arabian sea, historical Fort Aguada and the Church of St. Lawrence, should remain for posterity as our gifts of Health, Wealth & Recreation to our children and our children yet unborn.
It is towards this end that we have set up the Sinquerim Heritage & Nature Club. Our aims and objectives are as below
1.To protect the historical, architectural and natural Heritage
of Sinquerim village.2.To protect the natural biodiversity and maintain the serene
& pristine beauty of Sinquerim and harvest them for the
benefit of the whole community.3.To map out the flora and fauna of Sinquerim and to create
awareness about it.4. To create awareness and inculcate in the people of Sinquerim
a love for their historical, architectural and natural Heritage
and involve them in their preservation.5. To petition various governmental and non-governmental agencies
at the Village, District, State and National level to pursue the
objectives of the Sinquerim Heritage and Nature Club.6.To undertake activities for the preservation, protection and maintenance of the nature and heritage of Sinquerim Village.
We welcome each and every one of you to support our Club efforts to protect Sinquerim.
