I am in full agreement with the views expressed by Mr Shantaram Naik ex MP on the International Film Festival. I would also like to add that it would be advisable that the Goa government involve the citizens industry as well in this matter. They also seek the participation of Non Resident Goans in creating these immovable assets as there has been a long pending demand from the NRG's to permit them set up a NRI city in Goa. A convention Centre run by NRGs would be worthwhile.
Then it would also be necessary for the Goa Government to consider how these assets will be maintained thereafter as it was seen in the case of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda, that it was turning to be a white elephant and a burden to the exchequer even to this day. Though the Goa Legislative Assembly tenure will end in 2007, given the latest developments in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh there is bound to be repurcussions on the Government at the Centre and Governments both at the Centre may change hands come Ramzan in November end. Hence the present Government would do well to consider the legitimate views expressed by Mr. Naik. Meanwhile the Government will also have to be prepared to face the Exposition of relicts of St Francis Xavier next year 2004 and with the relative flux in political situation collective wisdom should prevail. godfrey j.i. gonsalves borda margao goa ________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
