I applaud Sonia do Rosario Gomes for the above post. It is important to express one's disagreement with sectarian propaganda on secular public forums. I would like to add that the only thing that liberal democracies guarantee and respect is the right to believe or not to believe. Nobody is obliged to agree with or even respect the parochial beliefs of others. For instance, I have no obligation to agree with and respect the Hindu belief in the caste system or astrology, or the Christian belief in miracle cures, or the harsh Islamic laws.
